• Jonah’s POV (Younger Version):
• Cousin Vera was no happy person. She would hit us with a stick each time we tried to compel her into trying to let us do what she totally negated. She was my oldest cousin and seemed like the closest to my grandfather’s heart. The holidays were filled with her and sometimes I ran crazy about her frequent appearance.
• My grandfather would call on all his grandchildren who were present for the holidays to come over for some storytelling. I didn’t enjoy his stories sometimes yet they gave me maximum confidence in all my endeavours. I hated Cousin Vera the more when I saw her spanking Cousin Oscar for no known reason. She spanked him until she was sure real tears were streaming down his cheeks; I couldn’t take the assault and walked over to her in anger.
