Chapter 31 Chapter Thirty-one

  • On Wednesday, Dante was back in Los Angeles. He bid farewell to his grandmother at the airport and asked his driver to take him to his wife, as he was eager to see her. He had spent three sleepless nights, tossing and turning in bed, trying to fall asleep but to no avail. He missed the warmth of his wife.
  • The journey felt long to him. Upon arrival, he leaped out of the car and hurried to the apartment, taking long strides. As he turned the doorknob, he headed straight to the bedroom. Moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating Ava, who was sound asleep on her back. Dante lifted the sheet and noticed she was wearing a nearly transparent nightgown with bunny motifs, which stirred his masculinity.
  • "In two days, bunny, you'll make up for this suffering," Dante declared. He then undressed and headed to the bathroom to shower. Upon emerging, he put on pajamas and lay down on the bed. He ran his strong right hand under her back and pulled her close to his chest. He intoxicated himself with her warm breath and savored the scent of his wife, lingering on her skin. He studied every part of her face and found her more beautiful than ever. Despite all the emotions of being with her, he finally succumbed to sleep and exhaustion.
