Chapter 10 Heat Stroke
- Lawson heard his heart pounding in his ears. The barrel of Raven's gun was pointed at the middle of his forehead with the safety off and he was aware that the woman holding the gun would be able to pull the trigger without the slightest regret, even if it would tear his soul apart. Her eyes were no longer even a thing of this mute, the part that should normally be white had taken on a black coloration and the gold of her irises was so potent that the pupil was barely noticeable. God, those eyes were scary, they were the eyes of a beast ready to tear its prey apart. And that prey happened to be him.
- He had underestimated it.
