Chapter 65
- I crossed the room filled with bookshelves and approached the computer. Still smiling, I began to think about how I could do this without raising suspicions.
- As the machine booted up, my mind was divided between concern for Adam and apprehension about what Dante might do if he discovered my plans. Once the desktop materialized on the screen, I started searching for a video calling program. I found the Skype icon and quickly typed in my login. My heart raced as I waited for my login to connect. However, the screen remained static; Skype wouldn't connect. A wave of frustration washed over me.
- I realized the computer wasn't connected to the internet. Nervousness escalated, and my attempts to connect the device to the network proved futile. Dante was still in the shower, oblivious to my efforts to contact Adam. Determined to overcome this obstacle, I looked out the window. The night was calm outside, and a brilliant idea occurred to me. What if I tried moving the desktop to find an open connection? I eyed the heavy computer, assessing the feasibility of the undertaking.
