• I feel the tension in the air as I turn, hearing that voice calling my old nickname, “Bambi.” Fifteen years have passed since anyone called me that. And there he is, Massimo Mancuso, smiling as if time hasn't passed, as if everything is just the same. As if that lapse of time between us meant nothing.
• “Massimo,” I reply, still stunned, trying to process why he's here. “What are you doing here?”
• He smiles, an expression that takes me back to the times when we were just kids, growing up together. “I'm glad you recognized me, Catarina,” he says, maintaining that easygoing tone he's always had.
