Chapter 22

• John Smith woke up in the hotel room, his mind clouded by the consequences of what he had done that night. He sat on the bed, leaning on his hands, and became lost in his own thoughts. The attorney ran his hand through his blonde hair, reflecting on his choices. It was his first "overtime," as he liked to call it, in two years. As his gaze wandered around the room, he found himself thinking about Ellis, his wife. John wondered if his absence had affected her in any way. Had she missed him, even just a little? The uncertainty gnawed at him as he wrestled with his own feelings and what that situation meant.
• The bathroom door opened, and a stunning blonde emerged, wearing only black lingerie. She walked over to her navy blue dress, putting it on as she expressed gratitude.
• "Thank you, John, you're as wonderful as always."
