Chapter 152 What Now
- The process to identify Jason’s body went smoothly. He had no wounds on him, and it seemed like the cause of his death was because his speedboat flipped over due to mishandling of it. However, it was suspicious of him to be on a speedboat at midnight. I knew what Jason was up to, as the river led to another city downstream. He could avoid detection by traveling on a speedboat, then set foot in that city and leave without a single soul knowing of his departure. However, I didn’t tell anyone any of those.
- The police asked for my identity and relationship with Jason, as well as if he had any abnormal behaviors recently, which I denied. I told them about Clara when they asked if Jason had a girlfriend. I also said they used to rent a house together, which the police required me to provide an address.
- After I gave my statement, the landlord came to identify Jason’s body. It was fortunate that I came early, or else I would be a suspect if the police were to come looking for me. “Sir, I noticed that their room was a mess when I went to collect my rent. I’ll tell you that this young man had been co-renting the house with Jason, which would make him a prime suspect, as he might have murdered Jason during a quarrel!”
