Chapter 32
- Emma occasionally looked towards the back, thinking about when Leonardo would return, she felt desperate for him to come back; very few times she had felt so uncomfortable in all her years of life as in those moments when Leonardo's mother, detailed her with her eyes, as she asked her a lot of questions that Emma did not want to answer, she could not say she was a nasty woman, but she felt insecure, she felt that anything she said in front of her, would be used against her, as if she was in a court of law.
- "Leonardo is a good boy" Emma's gaze fell on the woman, who took a sip of wine; during the ten minutes that both men had been absent, the woman had only been talking about her son, about how proud she was of him and about the incredible decision Emma had made by accepting to be his girlfriend. "A good man, I say; it's just that I still can't get used to him, for me he's still the same child I used to hold in my arms".
- "Yes... my mother is the same," said Emma, only not to be silenced, "I think all mothers are".
