Chapter 23
- She moved quickly through the office, not certain whether it was from wanting to meet deadlines or nervous energy left over from the night before. Leland had been able to turn her eyes back to the right color, and for that she was thankful. She had been so amped up over the news of the other women having all the wrong kinds of help, she couldn’t focus to do it herself. What she would have done if she’d had to come to work this morning with brown eyes she had no idea. Wes had paced around her apartment like a caged animal, his level of anxiety was not helping her calm vibes in any sort of way. Both had assured her for at least an hour that they had placed a spell of protection on her apartment, some sort of mojo to shield any other magic people—folks? Whatever they were called, to keep them from sensing she was there. She did not open those books again after they left, deciding it was best to just leave it with as little damage as she’d done at that point. Tonight was her first lesson in magic and still hours later she wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing.
- Teegan paused at Ann’s door and smiled as she looked around. If the office she’d moved out of had been Ann-style decorated, this one was over the top. The walls held larger-than-life pictures of photos that held a special place in Ann’s heart. “Decided to make it home I see.”
- Ann looked up and grinned. “Of course.” Leaning back in the tall chair she looked her over from feet up. “So, how was the trip?”
