Chapter 19
- She snorted and waited a few seconds for him to crack a smile. When he didn’t her next thought was she had agreed to come here with a lunatic. Trying to step away again, he put his arm across her waist and stopped her. He had seemed so reasonable, so understanding up until this point. Something inside her snapped. “You are completely insane.” She paced away from him and then spun back around so quickly she came close to losing her balance. “A witch, not just a witch but a relative of mine that’s over three hundred years old...” He just stood there watching her with those dark eyes, annoying her by not doing anything. “It was just some natural thing, electricity in the air or something with a normal explanation.” Turning her back to him, she walked back to the water and looked out across it trying to see some sort of anomaly that would be a reasonable answer.
- “I don’t blame you for having doubts.”
- Refusing to look at him, she crossed her arms and stared out into the darkness. “Doubts are when you’re not sure about which outfit to wear in the morning. This is a few steps up from that.”
