Chapter 22
- Teegan sat on her bed, her mind busy processing the events of the last few days. The magazine research had been helpful. She’d thrown her energies into it like a woman possessed, trying not to think of other things. The things that said she was going to have to save the world. Okay, maybe not save it, but it was close enough to make her feel sick to her stomach each time she thought about it. Leland hadn’t pushed her to talk about any of it. If anything he watched her silently as if at any time she’d run off screaming in the other direction. If she was truthful with herself, she had to admit there were a few moments when she felt like doing just that. She had done magic and was a, well, she still couldn’t think the word without a giddy panic filling her.
- Looking down at the two piles on her bed, one was the work for the new magazine, the other journals and spells books, or whatever Leland had called them. Did she want to peruse them while she was alone? Not really. She was curious, but you know what happened to the cat in that frame of mind, she reminded her impatient brain. Then again, she still had those moments where she was waiting to wake up and find out that all of this was some strange dream, a dream where she could do magic... stuff. Stuff being the only word she could come up with because she hadn’t asked what she was supposed to be able to do. No one offered her any further detail on this magic business, they had only told her to read and digest. She’d been digesting for two days now and she was filled to the brim.
- Tomorrow she had to go back to work and carry on. Between working hours she had lessons to learn with Wes and Leland training her. She had talked to Wes yesterday. After she scolded him for lying to her to get her to go with Lee, she got a shock she wasn’t expecting. He expressed how he knew she could do this. I know you, Teeg, and if anyone can do this, it’s you. Had been what he had said to her. A small part of her felt flattered that everyone involved said she was the one that could pull this off, however, Teegan wasn’t buying into that theory just yet.
