- I wasn’t surprised that Lily didn’t detect the change in my scent when she entered my bedroom. Magnus’s presence had lingered in the room ever since he left. The scent of him had started to fade, though, especially as I used his body wash in my baths.
- Dad had summoned everyone to the living room: Ember and I included. The entire Royal family was there, along with Uncle Orion, Dad, Ember, and me.
- Evander Winslow gave me a hard, yet faintly sympathetic look. Aiden Lancaster appeared haunted, like a father mourning his only son. Lily played the grieving mother role flawlessly, hiding her true feelings from Dad. Even Daisy Lancaster wore a mask of sadness, though it was far less convincing than her mother’s.
