Chapter 20
- Finally, I had a little time to myself. I moved closer to one of the tall, arched windows in the ballroom while I lingered there. The thick red velvet drapes served as a much-needed barrier, keeping some of the other guests away from me. All I needed was a moment to collect my thoughts and breathe. It wasn't precisely the character I wanted to play, pretending to be a carefree, innocent princess.
- A deep voice that was definitely Magnus whispered, "You're playing a dangerous game."
- I spun around to look him in the eye. His eyes held a depth of understanding that made me realize how little I actually understood about him.
