• Magnus's POV
• Once I had turned my back on the little princess, I devoted every ounce of my will to erasing her from my thoughts. I would not allow this green-eyed beauty to be the cause of my undoing. I had crafted a semblance of a new life for myself, a life steeped in violence but one in which I had excelled.
• Hours from my latest location, on the edge of a different kingdom, news of the first three attacks reached me. The Carrington Kingdom had been struck, leaving behind three lifeless bodies. What troubled me was the disturbing trend: each corpse was found closer and closer to the Carrington mansion.
