Chapter 44
- We spent what felt like hours on the balcony, taking our time to relax. Vesper seemed to need a break from her mom, and I was happy to give her that. It felt like old times—talking, laughing, and forgetting all the drama for a while. But deep down, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Vesper was slipping away from us. I hated that thought, wished I could ignore it, but it lingered. We had been inseparable since birth, and the idea of growing apart was something I never imagined.
- After a couple of hours, Vesper stood up from the table. Her phone had been buzzing non-stop, her mom trying to reach her, even though Vesper had said she was with me.
- “I still have to convince her to let me leave tomorrow,” Vesper sighed, “But don’t worry, I’ll be here tomorrow night.”
