Chapter 60 Out With The Truth
- "When did her condition start acting up?" Enrique asked as he entered the elevator with Winona.
- "About two hours ago in the evening. It's not the first time; that's just how her condition is. Treatments can only suppress it for a while, and once their effects wear off, her illness flares up again. So, we've become accustomed to it. I rush her to the hospital the moment I notice something's wrong. But in the past, her treatments used to last for about six months. This time, it's been less than a month since her last one. The doctor mentioned that it's a sign the treatment's effectiveness is declining, and continuing it would be pointless if the illness progresses. This means she might not have much time left if she doesn't get a bone marrow transplant," Winona said, her voice shaking as tears streamed down her face.
- Enrique remained silent, as he too felt heavy-hearted. He didn't know what words could possibly console Winona in such a dire situation.
