Chapter 22 I Can Never Forget You
- "Yes, you're right, it's an excuse. I knew you were back, and I knew you were going to invite me to a meal, but I didn't want to go. Why should I? Why must I? Must I be there if you invite me? Must I do that? You wanted to get married, and so we had to do that. You didn't want to get married, so we didn't do it. You wanted to go to Anglandur, and so you did. You were the sole decision-maker for everything. Have you ever asked me how I felt? Have you ever asked me what my thoughts were? Should I have gone to Anglandur to see what glorious life you were leading there? Did you ever come back to find out what kind of despairing life I've been leading all these years?" Enrique furiously ranted, venting all the frustration he had endured all these years.
- "No, Enrique, that's not it. I've been thinking about you all these years. Every day and every second, but you never picked up my calls or answered my emails. I could only find out about your matters through Zoey. When I heard from Zoey that you were having a tough time running a grilled food business, my heart broke. I really wanted to come right back to you," the woman responded, tears streaming down her face as she shook her head.
- "You make it sound so nice, but that's just your silver tongue. If you really cared about me, you wouldn't have left back then. You wouldn't have left the country a day before our wedding without saying anything. You left all the mess and the pain for me to deal with alone. Did you know that your mother vomited blood because of this on that day? I was the one who accompanied your mother for a whole week before she was discharged and sent home."
