Chapter 57 The Strange Woman

  • In truth, Enrique had no obligation to repay Michael, as he had been injured while trying to protect Irena. While it would have been reasonable for Michael to cover his medical expenses, Enrique adamantly refused to accept the favor. As he had stated, he didn't mind if Michael had a low opinion of him, but he couldn't allow himself to become someone he himself held in contempt. Moreover, he protected Irena of his own accord, and no one asked him to do so. Therefore, whatever consequences he faced were his alone and had nothing to do with anyone else. The decision had been entirely his own, and it was a matter of his personal dignity. After all, he was a man who valued his pride.
  • Seated on the bus, Enrique didn't head back to his home. Instead, he rode the bus in the direction of the street behind the university town.
  • Upon returning to his food stall, he found that there was nothing left.
