Chapter 4 A Breathtaking Beauty

  • After finishing his shower, Enrique collapsed onto the bed and immediately fell asleep. He was completely exhausted, so the whole process took less than a minute.
  • The next morning, he didn't wake up until nine o'clock. This was his usual routine since he didn't have much to do in the mornings.
  • After getting ready, he made himself a bowl of instant noodles. Once he finished eating, he took out his phone and dialed the number the woman driving the BMW had given him the night before. Five hundred dollars was a lot of money to him, and he needed it to repair his food bike and broken equipment.
  • After a few rings, the call connected.
  • "Hello, good morning," a woman's voice came through the phone. It sounded somewhat familiar, and Enrique realized it was the same woman who had driven the BMW.
  • "Good morning, pretty. I'm the man selling grilled food that you hit last night," Enrique got straight to the point. Referring to himself as a grilled food seller was unusual, but he wanted to make sure she remembered who he was.
  • "Oh, yes. Um... I'm still at the hospital. How about I meet you in the afternoon or evening? Would that work for you?"
  • "I don't have time in the afternoon or evening because I have to work. How about this? Tell me the name of the hospital and the ward you're in, and I'll come find you," Enrique proposed after thinking for a moment.
  • "Sure, that works too. I'm sorry for the trouble. I'll reimburse you for the round-trip," the woman told him the details of the hospital and ward.
  • After hanging up the phone, Enrique grabbed his jacket from the coat rack. He searched through the pockets for the woman's ring, but to his dismay, it was nowhere to be found.
  • "Please don't tell me I've lost it, God. I can't afford to replace it if it's really gone!" he anxiously exclaimed. He turned the jacket inside out, but still found nothing. He searched his pants pockets, the entire house, and even his food bike outside.
  • "I'm in big trouble. I must have lost it when I ran into the burning building to save the girl," he realized. Determined, he ran all the way to the apartment that had caught fire the previous night. However, when he arrived, he was devastated to see that the building had completely collapsed. There was nothing left but charred ruins.
  • Sitting on the ground, he lit a cigarette and stared at the ruins in disbelief. He smoked one cigarette after another.
  • "Are you trying to ruin me, God?" Enrique muttered.
  • Finally, he gritted his teeth and headed towards the bus stop.
  • Eventually, he arrived at the hospital mentioned by the woman who drove the BMW. He found the ward according to the information she had given him over the phone.
  • The door to the ward was open, and when he looked inside, he saw a crowded room. There were doctors, nurses, a middle-aged woman, and the woman who drove the BMW. They were all gathered around a hospital bed, engaged in a seemingly endless discussion.
  • This was the first time Enrique saw the woman who drove the BMW so clearly. He had caught a glimpse of her figure and profile the previous night, but now he could see her clearly.
  • The moment he laid eyes on her, he was captivated. "Wow! She's beautiful, absolutely stunning!" he thought to himself, feeling awkward.
  • Having lived in Salinsburgh for several years, an international metropolis, Enrique had encountered many women, some of whom were quite beautiful. However, this was the first time he had seen someone as stunning as the woman before him.
  • Her simple and elegant suit accentuated her alluring curves. Many office ladies wore the same suit, but she was the only one who exuded such a noble and independent aura.
  • She appeared to be quite young, probably under thirty years old. Yet, she possessed the charm of a mature woman, along with a sense of power and coldness. Her first impression was that of a strong and confident CEO.
  • For the first time, Enrique was breathless in the presence of such beauty.
  • Since there were doctors and nurses in the ward, it wasn't appropriate for him to enter. He stood outside and waited until everyone had left before knocking on the door to announce his presence.
  • Seeing that only a few people remained in the ward, including the middle-aged woman and the woman who drove the BMW, Enrique entered after knocking. There was a little girl lying on the hospital bed, connected to a cardiograph and an IV drip.
  • "It seems this woman didn't lie to me, and her daughter is really in the hospital," he thought.
  • "You're here? Let's talk outside," the woman who drove the BMW said calmly upon seeing Enrique. She walked out of the hospital room, and he followed her.
  • As they reached the door, a little girl's voice suddenly filled the air. "Don't go, Daddy."
  • Surprised, the woman who drove the BMW turned around and looked at her daughter on the hospital bed.
  • Enrique scanned the room but didn't see any other man present.
  • "Daddy? Are you here to visit me? Have you come back to visit me, Daddy?" the little girl excitedly asked Enrique, her eyes wide open.
  • "Are you... Are you talking to me?" Enrique glanced around, then pointed at himself, directing the question to the adorably beautiful little girl.
  • "I knew you would come back to visit me, Daddy. You will never get tired of me, right?" The little girl gazed at him with teary eyes. She appeared incredibly pitiful, to the extent that Enrique's heart melted.
