Chapter 3

  • The week had been going well, well enough till after her fifth period class one day. Everyone was staring and giving her ugly looks in the hall as she passed them. She was confused. It seemed they were looking at her. All of a sudden Harper saw Morgan running her way.
  • “Harper are you okay?”
  • Harper looked at Morgan confused. “Umm, yeah. why?”
  • “You haven’t seen it?”
  • “Seen what?”
  • Harper immediately regretted asking when Morgan showed a photo of her walking with Caleb with a caption. *Slut is trying to steal Bethany’s Man*.
  • She looked up from Morgan’s phone and saw everyone eyes on her.
  • “Guaranteed this was all Bethany.” Morgan whispered. “Come on, let’s get to class.”
  • Harper tried keeping her head down but that didn’t stop to comments and the constant shoving. Every kid had it out for her now. By the end of the day she had bruises all along her arm from the constant shoving and hitting she got from passing students.
  • She had to cover her arms by time she got home so her parents wouldn’t ask what happened.
  • It was Friday and the last bell rang signaling school had ended and Harper couldn’t wait to get home.
  • But Bethany had other plans. She was waiting in the hall with the other cheerleaders and even some of the football players. As soon as they saw her Bethany yelled “that’s her.”
  • Harpers heart started pounding and she immediately ran. She could hear them behind her as she ran through the different hallways trying to get out of the school and run home. But one of the football players caught up to her and pushed her down.
  • Harper was now in the middle of the hallway on the floor. She watched as Bethany walked up to her from behind the football player. She had a horrible smirk across her face. And then she pushed out her arm as if she was waiting for something to land in her hand. And something did. A large bucket.
  • She gave Harper a cold heart sneer before pouring the whole bucket of water on her.
  • The whole hallway that had stopped to watch the show and erupted in laughter. Harper was drenched from head to toe. Sitting in a puddle of water. That was pink?
  • “Oh no. Looks like the slut had an accident.” Bethany laughed.
  • Harper immediately realized the water was stain and she was pink. Only her face was okay since her hair took the color. But her arms, legs, hands, even her clothes were pink.
  • She got up and ran off. She could hear the whole school laughing as she ran.
  • Caleb had decided not to go to practice. He hadn’t felt good and had already made it to his driveway when heard something. Crying? He turned around and saw Harper running, she was pink. He was about to call out but she had already made to her front door and swong it open with a quick speed.
  • He decided to leave it alone and ask her next Monday day. But she wasn’t in school the next school day or the day after either. She missed almost two weeks before anyone saw her back in the school hallway.
  • When Caleb got a glance at her he almost didn’t notice her. She was wearing unusually baggy clothes than her usual cute attire. Her oversized hood covering her face. Her hands in her pockets. He had to look twice. He walked up to her. “Harper?”
  • She looked to see Caleb’s blue eyes gazing down at her. Her eyes widened and then she looked around hoping no one had noticed her.
  • “Are you okay?”
  • “I’m fine.” She whispered. And started to walk away. But Caleb immediately followed and insisted on walking with her to class.
  • “I think it’s for the best you don’t walk with me.” She said.
  • Caleb didn’t listen and kept walking with her. Till a loud call of his name caught their attention. Harper froze in place. Squeezing her books against her chest. Caleb turned to see Bethany. He frowned. Then turned back to Harper but she was already gone. He looked around but he didn’t see her.
  • “Caleb!” Bethany called again.
  • Caleb rolled his eyes and tried to walk away. But Bethany ran up to him. “Why are you avoiding me.”
  • “Because I need to worry about my studies.”
  • “Oh, well you know I can help you!” She said as she pushed him forward having him walk with her.
