Chapter 149 Former Self Restored

- After the terms were agreed upon everyone disbursed, not wanting to be in the same room as one another anymore. I, however, stayed behind, to remain in the state of self-wallowing from my guilt and grief I guess. I sat in the armchair that he had sat in during our Christmas gathering as I thought back on the memory. It wasn't that long ago. He had such a big smile and was so happy. I wanted to remember his smile forever. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He once told me that it was his favorite because of the traditions his father gave him while growing up. I may not personally see the hype about Christmas like he did but what I did see was true happiness. Something I wanted my son to feel each and every day, not just on one specific day. I was lost in my cherished memories while stroking Elias's head in a comforting manner. He was far too young to understand the pain and loss that I felt. Which was the only good thing out of this. I'm glad I didn't have to explain to him why his father wasn't coming home, at least I didn't have to yet.
