Chapter 2 The Before

  • Crescent
  • The human man lowered his sword and studied her, “did our god magically bless you with speech beast?” he questioned her.
  • She internally frowned, “that idiot Iseldis did not bless me with speech” she hissed through the link a bit annoyed. “, and he’s most certainly not a god, he’s a divine entity like me” she huffed to him.
  • They both stood there until the human male relaxed and sheathed his sword, “I would like to apologize then madam divine wolf. Iseldis sent us a message detailing that you would come across our city and search for you.”
  • Iseldis that bastard must have been the one behind this, “Did he say why I would be coming?” she asked.
  • The human male shook his head no, “he only said that the divine wolf would need help acclimating to the human ways.”
  • She had a feeling that this was simply the beginning of a long road of difficulty.
  • Crescent & Iscariot
  • It had been 213 years since she found herself in the mortal realm, but Crescent had found herself over the years loving it more than the divine realm. There weren’t harsh rules she had to follow, and it was much easier to move around in a human form than a wolves.
  • Along the way, she had made twelve friends and had gone on many adventures to spread her blessing to the humans and unite the majority of them together. Crescent had even ended a war between the humans and then turned vampires Eldon had blessed. Niam had even descended into the mortal realm to teach specifically the human females magic. She had assumed it was only human females because Niam was a male who was a sucker for pretty females. Dormer and Iseldis had refused to descend to the mortal realm but that was fine with her.
  • What had made her excited recently was her friend, Iscariot, had decided to join her in her continued travels to help those in need. She had always assumed that he thought it was a waste of time but apparently, it wasn’t to him.
  • “Iscariot can you help me with these?” she yelled happily to him while grabbing the hoard of medical supplies she had ordered a few months ago from a traveling merchant.
  • Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Iscariot grumpily get up and head over to her and start picking up boxes with her, “Why did you order so much? The town doesn’t need this much Cress” he said while rolling his eyes sounding very annoyed with Crescent.
  • Crescent only smiled, “It’s so they have extra for later you grump” she chuckled with a bright smile, “And despite your attitude, I know you liked that I ordered more” she sighed softly. She only saw him shake his head in denial, and that only made her laugh as they took the supplies and spread them among the town, they had been staying in.
  • She loved all the towns folk because they were all so nice and would leave little secret treats wherever she was and most times Crescent would give them to the children, but on extremely rare days that she felt sad she would eat the treats, but those days were far and few in-between. She had only felt sad four times so far in the mortal realm. The first time happened when she was depressed about being in the mortal realm after a year, and the second and third were caused by the crippling disappointment of not being able to find her fated mate, and the fourth time was when disease struck the village and many of the children had been made orphans, but that was all behind her now and every day was a good day.
  • Iscariot found himself hating and loathing Crescent more today for some reason. He still didn’t understand why someone like her was loved by all when she was just a stupid female who didn’t know her place and on top of that the people had declared her a Goddess when she was just a sniveling bitch who deserved nothing. Even if she was the one who gave them their Lycan status and his wolf Judas who hated Crescent just as much.
  • He wanted to enact his plan soon so HE could take all the glory for himself and rid the world of the Eternal Moons Goddess. The patience he had to force himself to have with all of Crescent's stupid shenanigans was astronomical.
  • He looked over to the innocent Crescent helping out a little boy with a skinned knee and only sneered to himself in disgust and contempt. No amount of words could describe how much he hated that woman. Maybe tonight would be the right time to enact his plan. Crescent to trusting for her own good and he knew that. Iscariot had seen her be used by people for her charity and even in times when she was betrayed not once did, she show sadness. It was startling how little anger or sadness Crescent showed, but it only made things more entertaining.
  • Iscariot smirked and decided that tonight was indeed the night to show that little whore who really should be in charge.
  • Later in the day he brewed a strong tea which he knew Crescent hated but wouldn’t turn down because she’s too nice to do that to her “Precious friend,” but the strength of the tea also hid the Opium, Valerian combination in the tea. Humans blessed with wolves had a high metabolism, so the dose had to be extra strong to affect them.
  • “Cress, I made some tea for us” he smiled trying to hide the sheer look of disgust he held for Crescent. He watched as she took the tea from his hand and drank it quickly and could see that her face was slightly contorted from the bitter taste of the tea. It would only take a few minutes for the poison to take effect on her body. Oh, the things he would do once he had her chained up and unable to fight back. Iscariot would break her until there was nothing left to break.
  • Iscariot watched intensely as she thanked him for tea and started chatting with him over mediocre topics he could care less about until he noticed that she started talking a bit sluggishly.
  • “I think all the work today is getting to me” she lightly slurred while yawning, “I think I’m going to take a na- “she slurred again until she flopped forward on the ground with a thud. Iscariot picked her up and started making his way to the place he had specifically prepared for this day.
