Chapter 1 The Before

  • The before was ruthless…
  • Women…children, killed without a second thought. Mercy was for those who were weak, and soft. Strength was all that was needed, and it would have gone on for eternity if it were not for HER.
  • The star fall of that particular year had been especially brilliant and from it fell a single piece of the moon. That night the Eternal Moon’s Goddess, Crescent was born. Her hair was paler than snow itself and glowed slightly underneath the moonlight. Her eyes looked as if they were carved from the brightest of sapphires, and her beauty was forever eternal.
  • Crescent
  • She groaned quietly from the pain that wafted through her body, as she shakily took in a deep painful breath of air, and tried to calm herself while trying to figure out where she was.
  • Crescent slowly lifted herself on her wobbling human legs… human legs?... she slowly looked at herself as she let out a light scream of fright and landed back onto the ground… she was human. That should not be possible. Crescent was a divine wolf who did not have a human avatar like the other divine creatures. Why was she suddenly in the mortal realm? And why did she suddenly get a human avatar?
  • Everything was way too confusing for her. Crescent slightly hoped that this was another stupid prank that Eldon was pulling on her. She hated the stupid vampire, but he at least brought some new entertainment to her, but that didn’t matter currently. She needed to find out where she was and a temporary shelter.
  • Crescent hoisted herself up again and surveyed her surroundings. The spot she had landed in was now a crater, and there were dim small fires spread throughout it. Crescent crawled out of the crater carefully and once she was out there was only vibrant green grass surrounding her, and a sparkling night sky that drew her in.
  • Crescent didn’t know where to start heading first so she decided to start heading straight and hoping she would run into some sort of settlement eventually.
  • she yelled out in frustration, as she had been walking for so many hours and still had not run into a SINGLE human… she was about to go crazy in frustration. Why do humans live so far apart from each other? Certainly, they would be safer in large groups. She guessed that she would never know since she wouldn’t be here or whatever here was for exceptionally long and she could go back to the divine realm… where she belonged like the other four divine creatures.
  • Maybe if she walked a bit more then she would run into a human town or even a human farm. Just one human would be more than enough so that she would at least have someone or something to talk to even if they were lesser than her.
  • Finally, after walking for forever, she came across a city full of humans. The large stone gates that surrounded the city astonished her, and the amount of humans waiting to get in intimidated her. The worst thing was the humans in line were wearing clothes which she did not have at the moment. Crescent guessed it was normal for humans to wear them and that meant she was indecent in the eyes of the humans.
  • Maybe she could shift into her wolf form, and enter that way? No that would never work as humans were inherently scared of wolves, and she only knew this because Iseldis the divine-human had told her all about humans, since he and one other of the five divine entities who wanted his species to spread or even be a thing that existed. Crescent hadn’t cared much and only claimed wolves as her possession which was probably why she never had a human avatar. As far as she was aware the others had minor things they had claimed.
  • Crescent focused her will into the thought of a wolf and when she opened her eyes again, she was back to her normal self, which overjoyed her to every extent. She didn’t know what to do now as a huge 6’5 wolf would scare most humans. She sat down and thought to herself before she heard a branch crack behind her, and she turned her head and saw a tall muscular man with ash brown hair and a large steel sword at his side.
  • This human was certainly bold to approach her especially from behind. She got up and faced him, wanting to take in whatever she could from his appearance alone.
  • “you’re going to make a nice coat for my lady beast” the human growled to her while drawing his sword.
  • She stepped back slightly as she didn’t want to fight the human male, but clearly, he was dead set on making her into a “coat.” As he approached her and slashed at her he managed to get a good slice on her arm and Crescent yelped in pain. She wasn’t interested in dying quite yet… could she even die? Crescent didn’t want to evaluate that theory quite yet.
  • Crescent didn’t know how to tell this human she was able to think like him. Maybe she could mind link him like she did with the rest of the divine entities whenever she wanted to talk with them. It was certainly worth the try.
  • “W-wait, please don’t kill me,” she said quickly once she established the link.
  • The man froze and looked around for any signs of another human and he looked confused, but he quickly went back to his task at hand which was killing her.
  • “Please I beg of you, I mean no harm,” she said through the link again pleading to him, and yet again the human male looked confused until he had a slight ah hah moment.
  • “Can you understand me beast?” he said sternly to Crescent out loud.
  • she bobbed her head yes, “Please don’t kill me” she said quite frightened through the link.
