Chapter 70
- Saturday came speedily for everyone. Damian had fallen asleep thinking and had accidentally slept in. He woke up as soon as the sun's rays hit his face. He groaned angrily and went to the windows to shut the blinds. Why was the sun up so early? He looked at his watch and found that it was already past 8:00 am. There was a knock at his door and a maid came in to bring his coffee. He wasn't in the coffee mood and asked her to take it away. He flopped back on his bed and stared at the ceiling. The day was finally here. He wasn't actually a fan of social gatherings and if Tony Monterosa wasn't a friend of his father, he wouldn't have bothered himself at all to go. There were much more pleasurable things that he could be doing on a Saturday like this and one of them was in her room sleeping. He heaved himself up from his bed and headed into the shower. He had more than enough time to prepare for the party. It wasn't scheduled to start until 7:00 pm. If he had known Tony for as long as he did, he knew that he liked to make an entrance. He was wealthy, not as wealthy as Damian, but he liked to flaunt his wealth anytime he had the chance and his birthday was a perfect opportunity to do just that. He wanted to be in his room all day till it was time to leave for the party. He didn't want to see Lilian. He fell asleep trying to wrap his head around her and had woken up with no answer or solution. He called for the maids to make him some coffee and toast. He was sure that they could manage that even without Sean being around. Something in him wanted Lilian to make it but he didn't want to ingest something made by her again. She had already left her imprint on his body and mind and now possibly, heart. She even made him toast yesterday. Her mark was everywhere on him and even in his stomach too.
- He ate in silence and set his alarm for 5:30 pm. He wanted to make sure that he got to the party on time and Lilian had enough time to powder her face and do all that contouring and whatnot that ladies do that makes them take hours to get ready. He wasn't going to risk being late, not even for frivolity like this. He looked over the reports he had mailed to him from Rosé. Everything was in order as usual. He still had to get back at Jackson for tampering with his reports and he had to make him so fearful that seeing numbers alone, would give him nightmares for weeks. Torres on the other hand had been much more obedient and was doing well. Ever since Damian refused him to be part owner of the company, he had been relatively well-behaved which was obviously a bad sign. It was strange for him to give up so easily. Damian suspected that he had something bigger he was planning. Until he found out what, he was going to keep a close eye on the little weasel. Time flew by and soon he heard the sound of water splashing. He got up and looked from the poolside balcony and saw Lilian doing a few laps in the pool. Seemed she had gotten bored and decided to take a little swim. She had grown a bit more robust now that she had cut back on her maid duties because of the 'accident'. The bikini that Damian had given her was now a little bit too small for her but no one would easily notice. As she swam, Damian admired her long black hair which trailed beautifully behind her. Her strokes were not powerful but were single and elegant. Damian enjoyed watching her but soon he snapped out of it. He had wanted to say away from her which also meant 'no watching her'. It was when he had left that Lilian looked up and saw his back just disappearing inside; she hadn't even known that he was watching her. She had a bit of a rough night and slept with difficulty. The things that Damian had told her that afternoon were playing in her mind. She was also a bit hungry later that evening and luckily, it was Antonio's spaghetti bolognese that saved her. It also made her feel a bit better. It still had the warmth of Antonio's household all over it. She wished that she could go and be with him every day but with the way that Damian was acting, that was a mirage. She did another lap around the pool and soon rested at the edge, that was closest to the sun's warm rays. The water was a bit chilly and she needed a bit of warmth. She thought about Sean and how his little event was going on. He was supposed to be back on Sunday. She began to wish that she had accepted him earlier. Maybe if she did, she probably wouldn't be there; she probably would have been free of her captor. Well, at least Damian had given her permission to indulge at the party. Maybe should find a guy that was richer than Damian, use him to buy her freedom, and then double cross him just like they do in the movies.
- She sat there for quite a while thinking about a whole lot of things. She had never felt this bored before. After a while, she felt chilly and opted to go inside. The sun's rays were now insufficient to keep her warm. She pulled herself out of the pool and dried herself off with her towel. She sat on one of the chairs and simply admired the beauty of the pool as it reflected the sun's rays. Soon she headed inside. When she entered her room, she found her breakfast on the table. She was quite hungry and ate the meal with relish. She actually wished that she could see Sean and wished that he was the one who had brought her the meal. She saw a note beside her plate scrawled in beautiful cursive handwriting. It was definitely not Damian's and thus had to be one of the maids. It read:
