Chapter 23

• Work was even busier for Damian the next day. His entire focus was on planning his business event that was to be held in three days. He was to make a speech and present their latest business idea. He wasn't really concerned about the speech but he was scared that it wasn't going to go the way he had planned it out, just like the way his meeting spiraled out of control. He needed to also buy something more festive and presentable. He needed to buy something that made him look amazing. He remembered that Lilian had yet to get something better for herself after she turned down his suggestion of the blue dress. What was wrong with the color blue?
• He also remembered that she said that she wasn't going to let him see the dress and he wasn't one to go back on his word. He had to...trust her.
• He dreaded that word–trust. This was business. He trusted no one. He relied on and only trusted himself. And he was definitely not going to trust an ex-thief. But she gave him her word that she wasn't going to embarrass him. And if she was worth the blood in her veins, she would keep to the agreement. He heaved a sigh and continued with work.
