Chapter 50
- Lilian had read five chapters of the book before dinner was ready. She had felt so uncomfortable. She wanted to be invisible or for the ground to open up and swallow her whole. Damian was quiet the whole time and she hadn't lifted her head to check if he was paying attention or not. Her neck ached badly from being bent for so long but she dared not to massage it.
- Soon a maid came up with the dinner tray. There were, however, two meals on the tray. Lilian was in horror; she was going to have dinner with him. The maid took her leave after she had set the plates on the table. Damian poured a glass of wine for Lilian and himself and he began to eat. Lilian was very nervous and her appetite left her. She looked at Damian and decided to put some food in her tummy with the consolation that she was going to regret it later if she didn't. Dinner was quiet and only cutlery was heard. Soon they finished and Damian called for the plates to be carried away. He looked a Lilian and she turned her head away fearfully. He didn't want to push it. He headed to the bathroom for a shower and instructed Lilian to sit on the bed. His instructions her scared. Was he prepping to fuck the life out of her, again? Was her reading not good enough? Her mind was in overdrive but soon the wine began to take effect. Slowly but surely she was lulled to sleep.
- Damian came out of the bathroom to see her lying on his bed. He walked to her and the wine was strong on her breath. She had been ill for a while and so she was a bit light-headed when it came to alcohol. He wanted to carry her to her room but he held the thought. He was now at war with Sean and with the state she was in, he could have his way with her. It was best that she slept in the room with him. Damian wasn't worried about Sean but he had to be careful all the same. An enemy in their own home was a killer. He stole a glance at Lilian and sighed softly. She looked so peaceful and quiet when she slept. He wanted so badly to stroke her lush long hair but something I'm him dreaded having to wake her. He lay down beside her but at the far end of the bed. In as much as he was a rich businessman, he had no natural affinity to sleeping with someone except if sex was involved. Soon he began to feel the effects of the wine and his eyes began to close slowly as well. Soon they were both sound asleep and in their heads swam dreams they would not share.
