Chapter 57

  • I got back in the car and drove off. From the day's events it had been a rough day. Seeing Lilly so unhappy made my heart ached. I wanted to really comfort her but I was too afraid. She trusted me. She had told me so many things throughout the years, her secrets and financial things that I felt like I was really betraying her. And now, we actually had a child together, I felt I needed to tell her, but I would have to wait. I didn't want any extra baggage which included Ellen.
  • I headed to my home not far from Lilly's Uptown home and pulled into the garage. I pulled up to my 1965 restored red corvette with the buttercream leather seats. Lilly had bought it for me at an auction for my 50th birthday and I drove it whenever I was off but lately between driving both Lilly and Cadence, my days were long. Usually when I got home I would go straight to bed.
  • After closing the garage door, I unlocked the side door and walked in. Climbing the stairs two at a time I walked in the master bedroom. Taking off my coat I placed it in the closet along with my shoes and tie. When I looked over I saw Ellen lying on the other side of my bed. I walked over there to tell her she needed to go back to her room.
