Chapter 50
- Ben pulled the limo up to the St. Mary's Cemetery. Today was the day that Lauren would be laid in her finally resting place. Ben stopped the car on the side of the luscious green grass and opened the door for Lilly. She stepped out as Ben reached for her hand to escort her through the grass. She wore the classic funeral attire of all black including a wide rim hat and black gloves. She cleared her throat as she walked up the green tent. Ben stayed behind to give her the privacy she needed.
- She wasn't going to attend, but Lauren's mother, Carolyn had asked Lilly if she could help bury Lauren. Lauren had evidently gotten back on drugs and was unemployed before she died. Carolyn herself was just a waitress at one of the local diners and could not afford to bury her daughter. So she had agreed to come and now she was watching a young girl that was full of life enter the ground.
- There were only a handful of people there and she hoped none of them would know who and what she was. Carolyn stood and moved over for Lilly to take a seat. She felt uncomfortable as funerals were not quite her thing. The priest gave Lauren the last rites as two men lowered her coffin in the ground. Lilly watched as the closed casket was lowered into the ground and thoughts of her past came back to roar its ugly head.
