Chapter 81 A Father’s Crimes

  • The king was the first to get up. He did not hide his vulnerability from all his people but none saw, all in a hole of sadness no one to pull them out of. The king held out his hand to Brum, their hands connecting with Brum stumbling up. His wounds were closed just as mine but sure every part of him was haunted with nothing but paralyzing pain. The two relatives stared at each other, hands behind each other’s necks in understanding. I doubt Conri was that close with anyone else, even with his deceased brothers.
  • They stumbled from each other yet Conri held onto Brum, taking all his weight as he limped. Brum held out his hand and I took it, pulling from the floor not sure what to say or do from there. How could a person recover from that? How and what could we do for Rose? My body stumbled up, Brum’s arm coming around my waist with my back still drenched with my blood but the wounds having closed.
  • Our footsteps echoed, all three walking through the people scattered all over the floor, heads bowed in sadness.
