• Giving heads to get what I want
• I graduated from college with a political science degree and grand, idealistic visions of being part of the political machine that serves and benefits the greater good. I learned fairly quickly that politics is a vast pool of corruption…some politicians swim in the shallow end, and some swim in the deep end….but every one of them is in the pool.
• Eventually I became a lobbyist, and my ‘good intentions’ went completely out the window. I began advocating for whatever position my clients and bosses wanted me to. I was paid extremely well, and my salary was tied directly to my ability to get politicians to vote for – or against – bills that specifically benefited my clients’ interests. To them, success was measured in the number of votes I could bring to their side of pending legislation….but for me, it was all about the money….and I would do anything to get paid.
