Chapter 33
- Amara Denz walked through a fairly upscale neighbourhood; her hand tucked in Leo's. He walked her around the curve and into a small cul-de-sac. She could tell by the houses alone that they were all worth a few thousand dollars apiece. Every one of them was set way back from the street, and each had a large garden around it.
- Leo walked her up to the house at the far end of the little street. It was a three-story building which made her small house look bad. The garden wall had conifers which were still very tiny, but which, in two years' time, would completely enclose Leo's garden. She could still see the upper rooms above the conifers, and she saw that they each had balconies. Leo pushed open the garden gate and she followed him up the path, noticing the neatly mown lawn and flowers by the path.
- He opened the door and moved aside, inviting her in. She found herself in a high-ceilinged entrance hall that was enormous. To her left was a closed door. A sweeping hall with even more closed doors lay before her. And to her right was a stunning, white marble sweeping staircase.
