• They reached his car. He dipped his hand into his pocket to bring out the keys, but Amara didn't hop over to get onto the passenger door side. Instead, she leant her bum on his car's bonnet and stared at him with daggers. The moon's light gleamed in her hair, and her eyes glittered like gemstones. He'd have liked to take her on the bonnet of his car then and there, but he was not foolish enough to make too much of a move now. So, he kept two paces away from her. He looked at her eyes.
• "Amara, I realize it's asking a lot and it's very much more than I'm worth, but could you ever forgive me?" he asked.
