Chapter 27

• Amara
• Amara had just stepped out of the shower when the doorbell rang. Dammit. She wasn't expecting anyone over and she was considering just leaving it, but she knew if she did, she'd be frustrated with herself for not knowing who it was or what they were there for.
• She shrugged on her robe and tied it around her as she rushed down the stairs. The doorbell squealed once more as she dashed down the stairs. Now that she was definitely glad, she had come down and answered it, rather than left the phone to ring and asked herself who she'd missed when they were this insistent. She reached the door after what felt like a lifetime but which couldn't really have been any more than a minute or so, and hurled it open.
