• It was another vexing day for me, seeing as I had to pay a visit to The Rockwell Enterprises. As if my situation wasn’t maddening enough, the universe seemed to conspire against me because when I walked past Alexander Campbell’s office, it was empty. Apparently, he was sick, which meant that I had to deal with his son, Erick Campbell, instead.
• The man has been nothing but an annoyance to me since the day of our company’s first meeting. And ever since then, the way he acted around Blair, his smug confidence and unwarranted familiarity with her as if they were close as it got, has always been a thorn in my side. And now, with his father out of the picture, there was no buffer between us.
