Chapter 14 He'll Be So Pissed
- “You always know the right words to say to make me feel better. Truly, all I need now is a true friend like you by my side, I don’t need any man to distract me with stupid love talks. As of this moment, I’m focusing on my life and my father's company. I don’t need a lover or a husband to get my life back on track. I just need a friend like you who truly understands me, a friend I can trust and depend on. I’ll take control of my father's company and I will be prone to everyone that I’m capable of handling my family assets without a man by my side,” I let out proudly, taking up my glass to sip my wine excitedly. I noticed a change in his demeanor, but it was gone before I could read any meaning to it. In the next second, he was back to his usual smiling self, and he made a joke that made me burst into laughter suddenly and I spilled my drink on my body,
- “So, does that mean you aren’t going to ditch me for your ex-husband?” he asked teasingly, reminding me of my earlier promise to go out with Nathan. I laughed out so loudly that I spilled my drink all over my boobs and thighs, making a mess.
- “See what you caused!” I scored him gently, as he laughed at my predicament and picked up the napkin on the table to help me wipe off the mess on my body. I had no idea that Nathan was still watching us from his seat in the restaurant. Honestly, I’d forgotten all about him in just a few minutes. Kendrick was keeping me too busy with chitchats, and I forgot about my possessive ex-husband who was sitting so close to our seat, spying on me.
