Chapter 7 Vi - Patrick

  • I spent the rest of the day holed up in the office, and even though I claimed to be reading a contract, I was actually stuck on the first page for a long time.
  • And it was all Sophie's fault. I couldn't get my thoughts away from her, no matter how hard I tried. I always ended up going back to that moment in the library. Her moans invaded my mind, the sensation of her soft skin tingling under my touch, and then the heat emanating from her wet and tight intimacy against my finger. There I was again, with a painful erection and lost in thoughts.
  • I couldn't go on like this. I had to get her out of my head, or I wouldn't be able to do anything until I buried myself in her tight pussy.
  • It wasn't my intention to call my father just to complain about this, but consumed by desire and the frustration of knowing that I couldn't have her, I ended up dialing his number and letting it all out.
  • "Do you really think I'm going to have children with an idiot? You better find someone else, preferably very promiscuous, or no grandchildren!"
  • The line fell silent, and I hoped they were considering the idea of canceling everything.
  • But part of me wanted to kiss her again, until we forgot the reason we were married. My body wanted to make her burn for me until she begged me to make her mine.
  • But I couldn't give in to that. It was just the need for sex speaking louder, and when it passed, I would regret touching her, for bringing an innocent into this shitty life I was trapped in.
  • "Well, for an idiot, she seems to have really gotten under your skin," my father teased, catching me off guard.
  • "I'm just irritated, that's all. It was you who came up with this idea of a marriage contract, but you didn't bother to find a woman who knew what we were doing here. The girl will end up falling in love and breaking her heart when she realizes she's not loved in return."
  • "You seem to care about her after all," my father's sympathetic voice indicated that he wasn't going to give up on making me happy with her.
  • "So, is that it? Is that what you want, for me not only to live unhappily, but also to drag a young girl through life for my unhappiness?"
  • "Son, why don't you at least try to give this young woman a chance?" my mother questioned with a sweet voice. "Why don't you try to understand each other? You can be happy together if you try."
  • I scoffed, listening to the sermon about happiness and love that she was trying to force-feed me. But the truth was, ever since Emily, I would never be able to believe in love again. That bitch had done an excellent job of making me reconsider everything I thought I knew since I was a child.
  • I had been raised in a loving home, had a life filled with the best of everything, money, trips, affection. Everything I wanted was handed to me easily. But it was only when I married that devil that I discovered what life was really like, and then I finally woke up and started seeing beyond the bubble.
  • I discovered in the worst way that people are actually selfish and self-centered, bloodsuckers thirsty for money and wanting to fulfill their own desires.
  • "You heard me, cancel this contract and find another woman if you really want a grandchild!"
  • I pressed the button, ending the call, and threw myself back into the chair. Sophie and I couldn't get any more involved than we already were. It had been a tremendous mistake, and it would have been much worse if I had taken her to bed. The girl had to leave this house and stay away from me.
  • My breathing became erratic at the mere thought of Sophie leaving. Soon she would find a man her age who could give her all the nonsense she dreamed of, as John said there were no single girls like her around, and she wouldn't take long to end up in someone's bed.
  • I turned my eyes back to the computer screen and continued reading the contract. It wasn't until late afternoon that I managed to finish that crap. My thoughts kept going back and forth to the conversation I had with my parents, especially my mother's last words: "Why don't you try to work things out with her? You could be happy together if you try."
  • How could I make someone happy when I spent every day feeling unhappy because I let a woman ruin my life?
  • Before I knew it, I opened the surveillance program and started looking at the cameras, searching for her. I went through each one, trying to find the long brown hair, the small body hidden somewhere, but I couldn't find her.
  • Where could she have gone? There were cameras everywhere, even in her room. Where could she have gone?
  • I left and went after Holly. She surely could tell me where Sophie had hidden herself.
  • "Holly, do you know where Sophie is? I need to have a conversation with her, but I can't find her," I asked as I entered the kitchen, but the woman didn't turn around or bother to respond. She continued stirring the pots. "Holly? Holly, what's wrong now?"
  • "Tell me the time you want dinner to be served, you won't have any problem getting your way since you're the only one having dinner at home tonight."
  • The sarcasm and irritation in her tone didn't go unnoticed, but what caught my attention was her saying that I would be the only one having dinner tonight.
  • "Where is Sophie? Where did John go without telling me anything? And what happened to make you so angry?" I asked, but what bothered me the most was the first thing, where Sophie was.
  • "The answer to all of them is the same. You continue to destroy your chances of happiness and don't see that you're also destroying the happiness of those around you."
  • Oh heavens, what was she talking about now? And why did everyone choose today to talk about happiness?
  • "Holly, now is not the time for riddles. I need to know where she is!"
  • "John took her to the city," she said. I couldn't believe he had done that without telling me. My expression must have given me away because she continued, "Sophie begged him to take her as quickly as possible."
  • "Why? Why did she beg, and more importantly, why did he take her without consulting me?" I growled the words, already feeling my blood boil at the mere thought of what they could be doing far away from here.
  • I shouldn't feel jealous, especially because John wouldn't do anything with her, but that didn't stop me from getting furious at the thought of her being away.
  • "Probably because she took the trouble to prepare two dishes and go up to your office to have lunch with you, but came back minutes later crying," Holly turned to me, crossing her arms and her eyes overflowing with anger.
  • "She didn't go to the office..." My words died when I realized she might have heard the entire argument with my parents.
  • Damn, it couldn't be this! If Sophie had really heard what I said, she would already be far away, putting the greatest distance between us and finding a way to take the contract money with her.
  • Then, my thoughts formed the image of her with another man, already having fun in the city since she understood that I didn't want her. A bitter taste filled my mouth instantly, my day couldn't get any worse.
  • "Patrick! Patrick!" I heard John shouting and I went towards him, stopping him before he reached the stairs.
  • "What the hell were you thinking when you took Sophie out of here without telling me?" I yelled, not letting him say anything.
  • "Boss, I'll explain everything later, but first we need to hurry because Sophie is lost in the forest!" he exclaimed anxiously and I swallowed hard, a cold feeling settled in the pit of my stomach as fear took over me.
  • "How did this happen? How did you let her get lost in the forest?"
  • "She... We were... Sophie drank more than she should and when we came back, she started saying some strange things, she tried..."
  • "Damn it, John, just spit it out, you idiot!" my loud tone reverberated through the walls of the living room.
  • "She wanted to sleep with me!" he blurted out and I saw red, taking two large strides and grabbing him by the collar. "But I didn't, I didn't, and she ran!" John hurried to say. "Sophie started saying that she needed to lose her virginity because you didn't want an innocent woman and she needed to fix that."
