Chapter 3 Ii - Patrick
- I needed an heir. Actually, my parents needed one. The family business had to be kept in our hands, which is why I let them go ahead and arrange a wife for me.
- My parents tried to cheer me up about the idea, especially my mother. She kept talking about the girl's beauty, how polite and sweet she was. But she couldn't be a good person, since she was selling herself to be a walking incubator.
- What kind of woman accepts to marry a man she doesn't know and signs a contract saying she will have all the children this man wants? I'll tell you, a selfish one!
- Since my car accident, my life hasn't been the same. My face was destroyed, or at least part of it was. Not even the most expensive surgeon was able to fix what my ex-wife caused. Now I was a disfigured man, or as I've heard people say: a Beast.
- When the car entered the property, I was looking at the photo my new wife had taken with my parents at lunch earlier. The dress she was wearing didn't match the image I had formed of her, it didn't enhance her in any way. Maybe that's why my parents were deceived by her, the pretty face and smooth conversation, and they were falling for the deception.
- I stood up and went to the window, hoping to see her up close. When she stopped in front of the house, observing the enormous construction, I could see the fascination on her face. She was just another gold digger.
- "Sophie," I tested her name on my lips, and it seemed to attract her straight to me.
- Her face lifted, focusing on the window of my room, and I caught a quick glimpse of her curious brown eyes before hiding in the shadows.
- I sat in front of the computer and started tinkering with the camera system, spying on where she was and being able to see up close each of her reactions as she got to know the rest of the house.
- I saw Holly, the housekeeper, showing her everything. The two of them talked as if they already knew each other, and the girl continued with her act of being a good girl, keeping up appearances, fooling Holly just like my parents.
- But when I noticed they were in front of the door to my room, I growled and stood up, putting the mask on my face and going to the door.
- "Boss!" I heard the voice of the woman who practically saw me grow up, along with the knocks. "Sophie Carter is already here."
- "Oh no, please, just call me Sophie."
- Her sweet voice reached me, but my blood boiled when I realized she didn't want to be called by my last name. Of course, my money was good enough, but not my name.
- "Good afternoon, Mrs. Carte!" I snarled the words as I quickly opened the door.
- Her surprised eyes focused on my face, probably wondering what I was hiding behind the mask.
- "Good afternoon, um... I think we can skip the part of Mr. and Mrs., since we are husband and wife now," she said with a wide smile on her face, which faltered when she saw that I wouldn't respond. "It's very nice to meet you, your parents have told me a lot about you."
- I stared at the hand she extended to me, seriously considering refusing it, but Holly cleared her throat, showing her disapproval of my behavior, and I gave in.
- I slid my hand over hers, her soft and silky skin tingling at my touch. Compared to me, Sophie seemed to be freezing. I stared at our hands, realizing how small hers was, small in every sense.
- "The dinner is served at seven sharp, don't be late!" I growled, pulling my hand away from her. "And wear something warmer, or you'll freeze."
- I closed the door without caring about being polite or cordial, I needed to take my eyes off her.
- I took off my mask and looked at the object in my hand. Even though only half of my face was destroyed, I wore a mask that covered it completely, but only put it on when necessary. My employees were already used to my face and didn't stare at me, but now with Sophie at home, I would have to spend long periods with it.
- I took a shower and put on an expensive suit, as well as Italian shoes. I didn't usually wear those at home, and since I rarely went out, all those things were untouched in my closet.
- "Holly, where is that girl?" I growled when I arrived at the table on time and she wasn't there.
- "For God's sake, Patrick. Speak properly about the girl, she's your wife and she's a sweet girl," Holly said, rolling her eyes at me, knowing it was expected. "I didn't like how you treated her earlier, I know you have your fears, but open your heart and give Sophie a chance."
- I scoffed at her words, Holly couldn't be more mistaken.
- "She agreed to marry me to have my children and that's it, don't start creating romantic ideas," I said as I sat at the head of the table, and Holly widened her eyes. "There's nothing romantic about this marriage!"
- When the woman in front of me shook the bed for me, I understood why she had widened her eyes, Sophie was right behind me.
- "Good evening, Holly, good evening, Mr. Carter," she said, walking tensely to the chair next to me. "Sorry for the delay."
- "We were about to start without you," I replied, even though she seemed uncomfortable, it wasn't my job to make her feel good.
- "I won't have dinner with you tonight," Holly murmured as she served the table and caught my attention, she always had dinner with me. "I'll let you get to know each other better. Have a good night."
- I narrowed my eyes, watching the fast steps of the woman who had been in my life for many years. Like my parents, she hoped I would be happy in marriage.
- She bit her lips, uncertain, and I couldn't restrain the desire to take her mouth and taste her when I slid my tongue over those lips that seemed so soft.
- "Hmm... so, what do you like to do, Mr. Carter?"
- I started eating, ignoring the question, and soon she joined me, eating without saying anything, but as she kept her head down, I observed every little thing about her body.
- Sophie was wearing a tight dress, but I still saw her nipples harden against the fabric when John opened the door to the garden.
- "Good evening, sir," he placed a report next to me. Usually, we would sit and have a drink while talking, but today I just wanted him to leave before he saw her nipples showing through the dress.
- - Good evening, John, thank you. - he replied without even answering me. - I thought I told you to wear something warm, we're on a mountain, the wind is cold here even in the summer. - I practically growled the words and Sophie seemed surprised that I was talking to her.
- - I don't have many warm clothes, it was either the dress or a sweater.
- - You should have worn the sweater!
- I saw her swallow hard at my words, but it was the only response she would get from me. If she was expecting to earn more money for shopping, she was mistaken. She had already taken a good amount from me with this marriage agreement.
- - Are you always this quiet?
- - I hate small talk...
- - That's news to me. I've never had a boyfriend or anything like that, but I think if we're going to be married, we should at least try to get to know each other better!
- Finally, she was showing her claws, making it clear that she wasn't the sweet, innocent, and foolish girl everyone thought she was.
- - Didn't you read the contract? You married me to give me heirs, not to get to know me better and try to be my friend. - Sophie raised her head and clenched her teeth, looking like she was about to hit me. - If you want to please me, you can learn what I like in bed.
- Unexpectedly, she threw all the wine from her glass in my face, luckily only my mask and tuxedo were affected.
- - I'm not a prostitute! And if you wanted a surrogate mother, you should have hired one. - she slammed her hands on the table and stood up. - But you wanted a wife, a marriage, so I think we'd better learn to live together.
- My blood boiled with anger, but also with the excitement she had stirred in my veins. I couldn't control the desire to shut her up, my urge was to hold her against a wall and only let go when all she could do was moan.
- Without thinking, I pressed the button on my watch that turned off all the lights, took off my mask, and pulled her by the waist until her body was pressed against mine, and I claimed that clever mouth with mine.
- Sophie let out an uncontrollable sigh and I slid my tongue over her lips, demanding entrance. As soon as she parted them, my tongue invaded the inside of her mouth. The kiss became even hotter as she entwined herself with me, her hands gripping my biceps as I devoured her.
- I couldn't hold back and I squeezed her waist, pulling her closer, feeling my member throb with desire. A low moan escaped her mouth and all I could think of was throwing her on that table and burying myself inside her.
