• "He's not your husband, you cow!" I shouted, even though it might have been better to keep quiet. "You gave up calling him that when you tried to kill him!"
• Her sick laughter exploded inside the house, followed by footsteps. Rosa and Magie were keeping quiet upstairs, which was what I wanted. We didn't need any more targets for that crazy woman, especially since Alejandro was already injured.
