• As I walked out of the hospital with Amelia by my side, I couldn’t help but feel a strange mix of relief and hesitation. We had both been through hell and back – she giving birth to our beautiful baby and me getting patched up after taking a bullet meant for her. The physical wounds were healing, but the scars ran deep.
• “Amelia,” I began, my voice tentative, “I know I messed up, big time. But please, come back with me to the pack. We can start anew, give our child a proper family.”
