• “It’s finally over, Mom,” I muttered before my mother’s grave while my father stood beside me. His eyes were filled with faint tears, it was harder for him to be here than it was for me. And as much as I hated seeing him in this grave pain, I knew no amount of words I told him was going to comfort him. If Sierra had gotten hit and died that night, no amount of words or companions would comfort me too.
• “I became a lawyer to avenge you and today, I can proudly stand before you to tell you that your murderers won’t have a good end…” my voice trailed off as I felt my heart ache. It was less painful than the other ones I used to experience whenever I usually came here. Today was different solely because the goal I’d been chasing for several years now had finally been achieved.
