Chapter 40

• I grabbed the phone in my hand and with my heart in my throat I dialed my office. To my shock, there was no service. I tried repeatedly till the phone announced it was shutting down.
• I gasped in horror, and tried my best to switch it back, hitting it repeatedly on the back like a miracle was going to happen, but nothing was happening. I only felt the shadow of doom press down on me.
• “No, this can’t be happening to me,” I said in horror.
