Chapter 7

  • Two weeks, two whole weeks after she became unemployed, Dani finally knew how valuable her job was and she so wanted it back but that crazy man did not call her back, instead, he paid her salary in full even though she only worked for fourteen days in that month, she wanted to send his money back to him but she was low on funds even after her strict budget that she swallowed her pride and kept the money. In the last two weeks, she had heavy thoughts about what she wanted to do with her life going forward but nothing seem to be coming up. She thought of what business she could do until her due date but nothing came up that she was confident that she could do.
  • She came to the conclusion that she can only ever work nine-to-five jobs. That’s if she meets a boss that she can actually work nine to five with, not Luciano. That madman had no idea what a nine-to-five job entails when he kept making her work overtime and even during the weekends. She couldn’t do that kind of job anymore especially when her baby is born.
  • Speaking of babies, she still couldn’t bring herself to check if it worked. Yes, it has been over three weeks and it would show if she just checked but she was too scared that it might not have worked. If she still had a job, she might not have been so scared because she would have had money to do another procedure and still save up enough to get her and her baby through but now that she was out of a job, if it turns out that it didn’t work, she might have to kill her dream of being a mom and that would be so heartbreaking so she just kept postponing the inevitable. It was all Luciano’s fault. he was the reason all her plans seem not to be going the right way. The painful part being that despite what Keira thinks, Luciano already forgot about her and must have replaced her already which would have been okay if he didn’t fire her so unfairly.
  • “Enough with those thoughts, let’s just keep hating him and keep praying for his downfall.”
  • She told herself as she turned her car towards the direction of her former workplace, yup she was going over to her former workplace, she somehow forgot her international passport at the office, she had been in the middle of using it for a trip with him when he had fired her so she had forgotten it inside her drawer. She knew he told her not to show up at the office again but she couldn’t leave her passport in his company so she picked a time she was sure he would be out of the company for meetings or with his latest love interest, hopefully, her timing was right enough because she absolutely didn’t want to be anywhere near him. He would probably throw her out. Hopefully, nothing bad would happen.
  • Dani expected to be given the cold shoulder by her ex-co-worker when she decided she would drop by the office. In fact, she didn’t even expect the security men at the gate of the company to let her in but they were welcoming and even the ones at the entrance of the company welcomed her and let her pass without any issue. what she didn’t expect was not seeing any one of her co-workers when she got into the secretary’s lounge and found a crying person who was new and apparently just got fired too. Luciano was going at it hard and at this point, he might not have anyone with him. That serves him right, he should keep doing that and run his company down.
  • “Hey, there is no point in crying, just get yourself together and find somewhere else to work, this place is not worth killing yourself over,”
  • Dani advised, trying to comfort the lady but she knew it was a lie. This place was worth crying for because the pay was huge and it takes a lot to get a better-paying job elsewhere. If only the owner of the company wasn’t such a sadist.
  • ‘I wish I could, but it took me six months to get this job, I didn’t do anything that made him fire me, he is just angry at something or someone and keeps taking it out on me,”
  • The lady cried.
  • “Yeah, he is built that way, that’s how he is, just take heart,”
  • “That’s easier said than done, I wish I can find the Danielle person that broke him and make her apologize maybe he won’t be so mad,”
  • She stated and Dani paused for a moment.
  • “What do you mean? What did Danielle do?”
  • “I don’t know what she did but I have heard her name more times than I have heard mine since I started working here and I have only been here for four days. He keeps calling me Danielle and cursing at her,”
  • The lady stated. Dani didn’t know whether to laugh or scream. Keira was right, he can’t survive without her, he was hopeless.
  • “Did I say something funny? Do you know who this Danielle is?”
  • She asked. Dani knew she should probably get out of there seeing that the madman was inside his office and might come out any time soon, she already got her passport anyway but she wanted to know more about what was going on with him and how he still couldn’t get a good replacement for her even though it has been two whole weeks.
  • “Yeah, I am Danielle, I am sorry I caused you stress but I got fired too, I guess he can’t keep my name out of his mouth and mind because I have worked with him the longest, five years, going six this year,”
  • Dani disclosed.
  • “Can’t you fix things with him? He is really having a hard time,”
  • She pleaded.
  • “We don’t have anything to fix, I was just his worker and he fired me two weeks ago,”
  • Dani disclosed. The lady must have thought she was in some kind of relationship with the crazy unbearable man. As if Luciano even saw her as a woman, for him to see her like that, he first has to see her as human but she was damn sure he didn’t see her as a human. To him, she might as well be a robot who never gets tired or need a break.
  • “God, why does he have to be so?”
  • The lady asked and Dani felt pity for her, she knew exactly how she felt, Luciano had a way of making you feel like the dumbest person even when you are sure you are smart and are doing a good job. He was just built that way.
  • “Anyway, I came to get these, I will be off now, I hope you find a better job,”
  • Dani said and turned to leave but she was met with a hard chest, she didn’t need to look up to know she just collided with her worst enemy. She took a deep breath and clutched her purse tighter to herself before trying to walk by him.
