Chapter 6
- “Sir, you called for me,”
- The new assistant who has been working for him for four days now and whom he thought would be the one asked as she walked him. Yes, walking instead of running, she took a whole ten minutes to get from her space to where he is. Something that would not take up to a minute, jokes on him for thinking she was the one because she was just as useless as the others.
- “It took you long enough to get here? What happened to the minute of the meeting I asked you to send for me?”
- Luciano asked. She looked confused and he already saw where her confusion was going. He knew he wasn’t about to like the answer that she was going to give him.
- “I am sorry sir, but I don’t have any minute that I haven’t submitted,”
- She said and he glared at her, she bowed her head as if that would solve the problem.
- “The minute you took for our meeting with the Dubai investors, don’t tell me you don’t have it,”
- He let out.
- “I am sorry sir, I don’t have it, you sent me out of the meeting and I couldn’t take any minute,”
- She told him and he almost lost his cool.
- “Is that even an excuse? I sent you out because you were falling asleep and it was annoying. You don’t write minutes with your hands, do you? You should have left your tablet behind and recorded the whole conversation or at least the important part. That’s what that bitch Danielle used to do, why can’t you do anything right,”
- He let out.
- “I am sorry sir, but you can’t fault me in this, I wasn’t aware I should be taking a minute of a meeting I wasn’t present in,”
- She let out and Luciano could only stare in surprise. She dared to fault him for something that she did wrong. He wanted to be mad but he was exhausted and he couldn’t seat through another interview with a new set of horrible incompetent workers.
- “You know what, go sort this out and I will come to get it in the next two hours, no mistake this time if you don’t want to be out of a job by the end of today.”
- He told her in a dismissive voice. He stood up from his chair and walked to the coffee machine he had been forced to buy because all the new secretaries that worked for him in the two weeks since Danielle left had managed to get his order wrong every freaking time. He hated the premade coffee but that was all he will be getting for now. Once again, it was her fault. The bitch didn’t even bother to call him to find out if he has changed his mind, not even after he made sure to deposit her full salary into her account three days to payday even though she didn’t work for the whole month.
- “If she expects me to call her back then she must be out of her mind.”
- He told himself as he took a sip from the coffee and walked back to his desk to finish the work he had in hand. He couldn’t even concentrate. he knew his problem would be solved if he just swallowed his pride and called her back but his pride was too heavy for him to even make that call.
- “I can survive without her, I don’t need anyone,”
- He told himself. That’s right, he needed no one, he has never needed anybody in his life to be able to do things himself. He learned the hard way that it was better to fly solo than be a team with anyone that’s why he never considered Dani his team. That’s why he handled most of the affairs of his whole company and even his hotels himself. Of course, he had directors but for most of it, he made the decisions. It has always been his decision. That’s why it had been easy to send Peter away once he found out what the man had been doing behind his back. They started the company together but it had been Luciano’s money and everything else had come from him too, if he had let Peter do most of the job, he might have lost this company to him. After what Peter did, Luciano became even wearier of people and decided partnering with anyone would never happen again and in the three years since Peter stopped being a part of his company and affairs, The Miko holdings saw a lot of increase both in market profit and brand value which helped cement his place as one of the richest people in the whole of Nevada and he wanted to keep it that way and even go further but right now, it seemed all that might come crashing all because he fired one woman.
- “Enough!”
- He scolded himself and dropped all thoughts of her. Luciano gave up after trying and failing for over two hours to get something done. He got up and went to get what he had given his new assistant to do, hopefully, she would not mess it up too.
- “Dani, I mean, what’s your name again?”
- He asked the assistant who stood up when he entered.
- “My name is Ella, sir,”
- She replied. He nodded and stretched out his hands, she looked at him confused. Oh, fuck! Dani would have known what he wanted without him saying a word.
- “The stuff I asked you to do a while ago, give it to me,”
- He let out. He was pissed off already, Dani shouldn’t be the only one who can work well with him, that would make him too dependent on her and he didn’t like it at all. He went through the file that she gave him and all effort on his side to remain calm flew away when he saw just how many errors were in what he had given her, how could she top the incompetent chart? She was worse than the others.
- “Is this what I am paying you for? You can’t carry out a simple task like this and you expect to be taken seriously? You are fired!”
- Luciano yelled at her as he left her there and went into his office still fuming with anger, another useless worker, he just couldn’t get someone worthy of working hand in hand with him and he wanted to scream. They all qualified when he had hired them but when it was time to work, they seem to lose the ability to do so properly. Now he had no choice, he had to find a way to bring that bitch back because it was clear he would go crazy if she doesn’t come back here. Now he just needed to swallow his pride and call her to come back.
