Chapter 46

Kyra spent a long time crying in Anton’s hand. She did not know where the tears came from when minutes ago she thought she had no more tears left, but she could not stop it from flowing freely like a damn river had burst open inside her when she saw Anton.
Relief and joy were the feelings that occupied her chest when she smelt his familiar scent of lemons and when his arms wrapped around her. She had tried to be strong so that she could survive the whole rogue ordeal but now that she was in his arms, she could finally be at peace. She felt like she'd come home and could relax and allow him to take over.
Kyra could not understand these feelings of hers but it scared her. It scared her shitless that she felt safe and comfortable around him when weeks ago she’d been apprehensive and refused to allow him to touch her. Today, she was the one running into his arms with reckless abandon and letting him hug her.
