Chapter 87 Answers
- Shane
- As I forced one foot in front of the other the cold night air kissed at my own wounds. It tickled and a shiver went down my spine. I couldn’t feel anything and that probably wasn’t good, but I couldn’t find it in me to care. The material of my shirt clung to the skin on my back. The more steps I took the colder my heart grew. I knew this was the best I could do right now, but it didn’t make it any easier.
- Fog billowed out of my mouth with each haggard breath. I walked between the slave quarters hidden in the shadows of the night. My fingers dragged along the side of the house before I rounded the corner. I strode across the deck in two strides and threw open the door. Mavy screamed and her body automatically went into defense mode. I closed the door behind me and she was up on her feet. She darted across the room to me and threw her arms around me. I grimaced as her hands dug into the back of my neck.
