Chapter 199 Itch
- Chance’s fingers ran up and down my spine. True to his word, he didn’t push me, nor did he ask for more. If I hadn’t met Shane, I think I would have eventually given Chance a shot. I couldn’t help but laugh as my thoughts drifted towards that tongue work. I would have let that happen earlier if I knew he was so talented.
- He walked me to Shane’s room and as hard as I tried not to, there was little I could do to stop the excitement bubbling within me. There was a bit of a spring to my step as I tried and failed to rush. I was running late and the image of seeing his smirk and that look in his eyes that said I was inferior to him lit a fire low in my belly. I waved Chance goodbye before opening the door and slipping inside. Shane was nowhere to be found and I swallowed down the lump in my throat. Sitting down, I waited for him, but he never showed up.
- I went home that morning, filled with disappointment. Shane didn’t show up the next three nights. I didn’t see him during the day either. I hadn’t seen him since the day after we first met. I questioned if it had been real at all. Had I really found my mate? I questioned if he’d really taken me or if that had all been a figment of my imagination. If not for my change in schedule on the night shifts and seeing Mavy when she came in for work, I wouldn’t have been sure if it had happened at all. Mavy’s presence and every shift I spent sitting in the VIP room made it clear that he wasn’t coming in to see me.
