Chapter 44 A Walk
- Shane
- She was the picture of perfection like this. I just claimed her body and soul last night, but I couldn’t hold back. I knew it would hurt her, but the sparks between us threatened to burn down the world if I didn’t have her again. The way she stared up at me as if she couldn’t live without me. The need in her eyes matched my own and it soothed something dark and cold in my tortured soul. When she said she was afraid she wouldn’t see me, I realized she was still thinking about leaving. She had accepted her fate and wasn’t even considering fighting. If I was smart I would leave now and reclaim my title, but it was so hard to leave her. It was too dangerous for me to take her with me. I was confident I would win, but the thought of losing and leaving her there defenseless wasn’t a risk I was willing to take. She whimpered and stole my attention again.
- “Goddess. You look beautiful when you’re like this,” I say in awe.
