• “Why do you say that?” Maurice seemed to ask for Asher, who had the same thought. Even though the two were speaking in their language, he understood. He had learned it since long ago, when he and Patricio became friends.
• “Peri is still studying,” Patricio pointed out. “As much as I want, she needs to finish college first before she can get involved with a man. At this point, men are a distraction to her.”
• “How can you say that? Who are you to judge if a man in her life right now is a distraction or not? Besides, Peri is a responsible young woman. Don’t you trust her? Because I do,” Maurice told her son.
