Chapter 270 Many Years Ago (Five)
- Chadwick Fullner was puzzled, unsure of what Keith Branwell was trying to convey to him. He was aware that Keith Branwell's values differed greatly from his own, so he had never considered changing Keith Branwell's values, nor did he have any intention of altering his own.
- With a cigarette dangling from his lips, Chadwick Fullner made his way back to his room in the basement. As he gazed at the vacant space where someone used to sit in front of the computer, examining lottery tickets, a wave of melancholy washed over him. He sighed inwardly, reflecting, "All good things must come to an end. Even the closest of couples will eventually part ways, let alone Aiden and me." With these thoughts swirling in his mind, he began to tidy up his belongings, placing some of his personal items on the bunk where Keith Branwell used to sleep. Once everything was in order, he settled into bed, finding it challenging to drift off to sleep without the sound of Keith Branwell's snoring. It took him quite some time before he finally succumbed to slumber.
- The following day, Chadwick Fullner rose early and headed to Mrs. Langston's residence for work. He labored throughout the day, taking a brief break in front of the stall after lunch. Retrieving his phone, he dialed Keith Branwell's number, eager to confirm his safe arrival home. Considering the travel time from Millsborough to their house by train, which was approximately ten hours, Keith Branwell should have reached home by now. However, each time Chadwick Fullner called, he was met with a message stating that the phone was switched off.
