Chapter 1 Lucky with Women?

  • "Hello."
  • "Hello, am I speaking with Miss Samantha Wembley? I'm from Lightspeed Express, and your packages have arrived," Chadwick Fullner said stiffly, looking at the transport order in his hand.
  • "Where are you?" the woman named Samantha Wembley asked coldly. Despite her aloof tone, Chadwick had to admit that she had a melodious voice.
  • "I'm outside the entrance of your neighborhood. I wanted to deliver your parcel to your door, but the security refused to let me in. Could you please come outside to accept it? Otherwise, can you please give your community doorman a call to explain the situation so that I can deliver it inside for you?" Chadwick explained. It couldn't be helped since this area was a high-end villa neighborhood with tight security. The security at the entrance here wouldn't allow a courier from a courier company like him to enter the community.
  • "I'm not at home now because I'm at work."
  • "How about this? I'll leave your packages at the security office. Please inform your security to sign the packages in your stead."
  • "No, my packages are delivered from abroad and are costly. So, I have to accept them personally."
  • "B-But… you're not home now," he pointed out in distress.
  • "Wait for me there. I'll be home in two hours."
  • "What? How about this, Miss Wembley? Please let me know when you'll be home tomorrow or the day after and I'll deliver it to you at that time. I still have many deliveries for today, and I—"
  • "I'm not going to explain myself to you, but I need my packages today and can't wait until tomorrow. I'll finish work at 5.30PM, and I'll be home at 6.00PM at the latest. So, wait for me at the neighborhood entrance at 6.00PM. If you're not there by that time, I'll send in a complaint about you. That's it!" the woman on the other end said aggressively and hung up on him directly.
  • "Oh, my, my. Either she got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, or she has menopause. So, all these are bought from abroad, eh? They're in such big sizes. She probably bought herself multiple boyfriends, and they're all in such large boxes." After hanging up, Chadwick couldn't help but complain. Actually, he had met all sorts of people as a courier, and it was common to get picked on. Still, he couldn't stop himself from whining.
  • He checked the time and saw that it was a little past 3.00PM, and it would be impossible for him to finish his delivery today if he really waited for her until 6.00PM. If that happened, he would definitely receive complaints, and once he did, his monthly salary would be done for. The management of his delivery company was stringent, and there was a hefty fine to pay for customer complaints, ranging from a fine to expulsion. However, if he didn't wait here, that unreasonable woman would also file a complaint about him as well.
  • Chadwick hurriedly started his electric tricycle out of wits and headed for the following delivery address because he had to rush back to this place before 6.00PM. But, of course, he couldn't help it since he was just a miserable courier guy.
  • In a place like Millsborough, one could consider the number of express deliveries astronomical, and the number of deliveries and workload every express delivery company assigned to their couriers daily was astonishing. Take him as an example. He worked from day to night without even the time to have lunch peacefully. In order to rush back to this place at 6.00PM, he even had to speed up to finish all other deliveries.
  • Finally, after a great deal of effort, he managed to finish his other deliveries for today, and he maxed out the gas pedal of his electric vehicle as he rode back to the villa neighborhood. However, once again, when he was at the entrance and was about to make a call, he suddenly saw a woman walking toward him.
  • She was a stunning woman; more precisely, she was so beautiful that Chadwick was stunned by her. Although he hadn't been a courier for a long time, it was still a few months already, and he was always going around Millsborough, an international metropolis. Every day, he would be in contact with thousands of people, including countless women, and he had seen no lesser share of beautiful women. However, it was indeed a first for him to run into a beauty as stunning as the one in front of him now.
  • The woman was relatively young, and he reckoned she was definitely below the age of thirty—twenty-eight years old, at the most—but she was exuding a mature aura of a woman. In addition, she had the dignity and aloofness that was found in leaders, giving him the first impression that she was a domineering head of a company.
  • "Don't bother to make the call. I'm Samantha Wembley," the woman said coldly as she walked toward Chadwick.
  • He stood there in a daze for a few seconds before he finally put on a smile and said, "I'm so sorry to keep you waiting."
  • She ignored him and continued, "I said to meet at 6.00PM, but it's already 6.05PM now. I just called your company to complain about you."
  • Chadwick's eyes grew large and anger started boiling in him. "Oh, wow. Do you have to do this just because of five minutes?" he shouted angrily.
  • "What did you say? Are you shouting at me?" Samantha asked as she raised her brows.
  • He knew that he was in the wrong for shouting at her, so he controlled his temper and said, "Madam, I—"
  • The woman was even more annoyed once she heard that. "Who are you calling 'Madam'?"
  • "No, it's Miss Wembley. In order to deliver your parcels, I had to wait for more than two hours. All couriers have a route, and we start from the nearest to the furthest, finishing the route according to the sequence. So, I went to the furthest point for your packages before returning here again. As you know, I'm only using an electric bike which can't speed up that much, and you complained about me just because of five minutes. Aren't you just… too unreasonable?" Chadwick felt wronged and wanted to tell her that she was mean, actually, but he held his tongue in the end. If the situation escalated and she complained about him again, then he would really be in deep trouble.
  • "It's your problem that you have to make an extra run. Since you're in the service industry, you should understand the objective of your job. Don't mention five minutes, even if you're late by a second. It shows that there's a problem with your service attitude. I've already informed the neighborhood security. Drive in behind my car and deliver it to my place." The woman wasn't interested in Chadwick's explanation and simply hopped into a beautiful BMW 7-series sedan parked at the neighborhood's entrance. Then, she started the car and drove in.
  • "My God. She can't be any more shameless than this. I can just tell that she doesn't have a man at home and hitting her menopause soon. My five hundred! Damn it! My day is destroyed in this woman's hands today. Keith is right about pretty women being wicked. None of them are kind." Chadwick kept hurling abuses under his breath while he rode his bike behind the BMW.
  • This was a villa neighborhood, and the entire area was designed like a huge park surrounded by leafy trees. The environment brimmed with elegance, and the villas were hidden behind the rows of trees and flowers. Honestly, Chadwick had been a courier for a few months, but this was the first time that he made a delivery to such a high-end place and also the first time experiencing how the wealthy lived.
  • The BMW rolled slowly in an apparent effort to lead Chadwick. Still, no matter how slow she drove, it was still faster than his secondhand electric motorbike, and he almost lost track of her halfway. In the end, he somehow managed to see the location and drove into the yard of one of the villas.
  • Then, he stopped his motorbike with a side wagon behind the BMW and hopped off.
  • "There are 11 packages in total. Please sign it off!" Chadwick took out a stack of delivery invoices from his bag, and after checking it, he passed it to Samantha.
  • "Open them one by one for me. I have to be sure that the goods arrived in perfect condition before I sign it off for you," she said coldly.
  • "Miss Wembley, while it's true that you can sign it off after checking the items, you'll have to open the packages yourself. We're not in charge of opening the packages! So, if I open it and there really is a problem, it will become my responsibility even though it's not. By then, who should I reason with if that happens?"
